3D virtual exhibition: focus on interactivity and visibility

From 11 to 14 October, the 19th edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities is once again coming to Brussels to highlight the # EU's achievements, efforts and future plans on a regional and local level.

The accompanying 3D virtual exhibition will start early October on the event platform Swapcard hosted on the event's website.

The exhibition area at the #EURegionsWeek was originally launched as a meeting point for all participants of the event, which is why it's also known as the agora, named after the central public space in ancient Greek city-states that accommodated the social and political order of the polis.

History ended up repeating itself: during the event's in-person editions of 2018 and 2019, the EURegionsWeek's modern-time Agora became a hub for people to connect, work and relax, with workshops, informative sessions, a lounge and even food tastings.

When corona struck in 2020, this exhibition took on a virtual format for the very first time, in record time.

Based on participants' feedback and lessons learned, the 2021 virtual exhibition will provide an im proved experience, with higher interactivity and greater visual attractiveness. Everyone registered for the EURegionsWeek will have access to the 3D virtual exhibition area and will be able to interact with the exhibitors based on their exhibited booths. For easy viewing, two different access options will be available: 360° and menu navigation.

Maximising the value and optimising the experience of virtual happenings is an initiative in line with the Eco-Management and Audit System (EMAS), which encourages EU events to become not only greener but also more relevant, and to grow their audience year after year.

The online availability of major events and our participants' feedback have been key drivers in this evolution and will continue to be so. Therefore, if you decide to join our fun enriching and inspiring 3D exhibition, be sure to give us your feedback at EUREGIONSWEEK@ec.europa.eu, so that we can make next year's edition - the 20th! - one you will never forget.
